Sebastian Vettel has admitted the last four races are crucial in Ferrari's development for the 2020 season, with momentum there to be gained for next campaign.

The four-time world champion has had a difficult season for Ferrari; who have also had a tricky campaign as a team. Vettel has taken just the one victory this season, in Singapore, with Charles Leclerc taking two wins in his debut season for the Prancing Horse.

Ferrari failed to record a victory in the opening 12 rounds of the season, and with just four races remaining, Vettel believes they could build some momentum up in time for next year with good performances in Mexico, USA, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

"It's normal that you try to beat your teammate, but as I've said previously, it's been the same in all the years that I've been running in a team with two cars," Vettel said when asked about the rivalry with his team-mate Leclerc, as cited by GPToday.net.

"In Formula 3, I even had three team-mates. So, I think that's normal and the name of the game. That's competition and how we grew up racing each other. You want to be faster than the other guys.

"We're trying to use these races to get the right momentum and get in the right place for next year. The cars will be largely the same, so anything we can learn from this year will still help us next year."
