Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner says that racing under the lights in Singapore “completely at night – adds a lot to the show” as the team look to “get the best out of their car.

The Marina Bay Street circuit has been a regular on the Formula 1 calendar since 2008 and is one of three races that takes place at night, alongside the Bahrain GP and Abu Dhabi GP which starts in daytime and finishes at night.

Steiner said: “Night races, especially Singapore, are very cool. Being in the city and racing completely at night – it’s fantastic.

“I think it adds a lot to the show. The time difference, being at night, it allows a lot of people around the world to watch it.”

Haas have struggled the previous races in Spa and Monza, finishing just outside the points in Belgium and Kevin Magnussen unable to finish in Italy while Romain Grosjean ended up in P16.

Comparing the similarities between Singapore and Monaco the Italian hopes to make the most from lessons learned in Monte Carlo.

“The challenges of the track lie in that it’s low speed. It’s more like Monte Carlo – it’s a slower circuit,” Steiner added.

“You have to take the lessons learned at places like that and try to get the best out of the car.”
