"Everyone looks like idiots!"

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has said that the entire field look like idiots after a farcical Q3 saw many of the drivers miss out on their final laps as they jockeyed for the tow.

Neither Mercedes driver was able to get their final lap in as they were in the middle of the pack, leaving Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas second and third behind polesitter Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari, to the delight of the home crowd.

Speaking to Sky Sports' Simon Lazenby, Wolff said: "You have been around for 35 years, have you ever seen anything this? That was worse than a junior formula.

"The problem was everyone wants a slipstream and nobody wants to go first.... and then everyone looks like idiots."
