Toro Rosso need to get better at qualifying to stay ahead of Renault

Toro Rosso "need to get better at qualifying" to stay ahead of Renault

Toro Rosso are currently 5th in the Constructor's Championship and are hoping to beat Renault in the standings come the end of the season. Daniil Kvyat thinks that if his team are to beat Renault then they need to improve on their performances on Saturdays.

"We need to get better at qualifying," Kvyat said to Motorsport.com"That just can't happen if we want to score more points."

McLaren are currently the 'best of the rest' and Kvyat thinks it will be too hard to catch them in the midfield battle.

"It would be very optimistic to focus on them now. They just have a very good year," he said.

However, McLaren had a double DNF at Spa but the Toro Rosso driver think this was just bad luck and not a sign of a dip in performance.

"This race was mainly a one-off [damper] for them. We know how strong they can be. Moreover, I think we should basically look at it per race and not look too much at the constructors' championship."

"It looks good after this score in Spa. But we can't look too far ahead, we have to focus on what we have now."

The midfield battle is as tight as ever and every race is going to count up until the end of the season.
