Another day in the world of motorsport comes to a close and on a day where Ferrari locked out a one-two in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, the risks involved with racing were far too apparent.

Hamilton crashes out of FP3

The day started off in dramatic fashion as Lewis Hamilton crashed out of FP3. Hamilton lost control of his car at turn 12, sliding off into the barrier and causing some serious damage to his Silver Arrow. The Brits crash brought out the red flag for around 25 minutes as the car was recovered and drivers could return to track. The Mercedes team faced a race against time to get Lewis' car ready for qualifying.

As has every session this weekend, Ferrari dominated locking out another one-two with Charles Leclerc on top followed by Sebastian Vettel. Daniel Ricciardo was well placed to earn P4 in the final session before qualifying as Alex Albon brought up the rear for Red Bull.

Ferrari were fantastic as they qualified for the Belgian Grand Prix on the front row for the first time since Bahrain. Charles Leclerc led the way for the Scuderia, closely followed by Sebastian Vettel as they motored their way to a one-two. Mercedes have just lacked that slight bit of speed this weekend and it showed in qualifying and they will start third and fourth.

The session was delayed just moments into Q1 after Robert Kubica's car started spewing out smoke. The new Mercedes engine has caused conundrums all weekend and they'll have more questions to answer after this latest incident.

The motorsport world was shaken to its core on Saturday evening as the FIA confirmed the news everybody feared that Anthoine Hubert had died following a crash in the F2 race earlier in the day.

Hubert was involved in an incident with Juan Manuel Correa on lap two of the race and it was confirmed that he had passed away at 18:35 local time as a result of his injuries. Correa is in a stable condition and is being treated in hospital.

From everyone at GP Blog, our thoughts are with the friends and family of Anthoine Hubert.
