Alonso and Toyota Dakar Rally announcement days away

Fernando Alonso's next move in motorsport has been up for debate, but Motorsport.com are reporting it could be just a matter of days until his and Toyota's involvement in the 2020 Dakar Rally is confirmed.

Alonso left Formula 1 in 2018 to pursue the 'Triple Crown' having collected the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24 Hours twice. On Friday McLaren confirmed their involvement in the Indy 500 with a new partnership and Zak Brown has admitted he'd be open to Alonso returning.

However, Motorsport.com are reporting that Alonso and Toyota, the team the Spaniard won the Le Mans race with, are set to announce their partnership for the 2020 Dakar Rally. The race is set to be held in Saudi Arabia between the 5th and 17th of January.

In a recent post on his Instagram Alonso hinted at his next challenge saying: "The next challenge will be very difficult. It will force me to get the best out of myself and dedicate myself for several months. But if it had been easy, it would not have been fun."
