Haas boss Guenther Steiner has called for Formula One to switch back to last year’s tyre spec, following teams struggling to adapt to the tyres this season.
Steiner says that teams never know how the tyres will behave when they turn up to a new racetrack. The new, thinner 2019 tyres were supposed to stop blistering, but they have caused more problems than solutions for some teams.
According to Racefans.net, Steiner said: “You make progress but it’s not a progress you can see and can replicate somewhere else.
“That is the difficult one. Every time it’s a new surprise, like the Kinder Surprise: What do you get inside?
“You react quicker because you understand better what the tyre is doing and then you need to react but to predict now what to do in France, no idea.”
