Dr. Helmut Marko has shut down any chance of Nico Hulkenberg replacing Pierre Gasly at Red Bull Racing, as some rumours had previously suggested.

Gasly's start at Red Bull since making the step-up from Toro Rosso hasn't been ideal. However, in recent races, the French driver has shown some signs of improvement for the team.

The Italian media reported that Marko had already held talks with Hulkenberg over the German taking Gasly's seat. Marko has completely shut down the rumours already, as he spoke to Autobild.

"These rumours are so farfetched, that I or do we do not even want to comment on them anymore, it's absolute nonsense, that's what I said (to) Gasly, who even called me about it," the Red Bull advisor said.

Gasly recorded a P5 finish for Red Bull at the Monaco Grand Prix - his highest position in the RB15 yet, and also recorded the fastest lap to bring home 11 points from Monte Carlo.

With Alexander Albon and Daniil Kvyat both impressing at Toro Rosso, perhaps the next rumour will be regarding one of those taking the same path as Gasly did when he was announced as Daniel Ricciardo's replacement at the Milton Keynes-based team.
