Leclerc had right attitude in Monaco, according to Binotto
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto believes Charles Leclerc had the "right" attacking attitude during the Monaco Grand Prix. While trying to pass Nico Hulkenberg, Leclerc clipped the Renault car and the barrier.
Leclerc's disaster on Saturday perhaps sharpened his attacking mind as he took to the grid for his home race. He started well, overtaking Lando Norris and Romain Grosjean to move up to 13th.
But not too long after, Leclerc damaged his car by trying to force his way through. Even though this move resulted in early retirement, his boss, Binotto, applauded the work and his aggressive strategy.
"Charles had a strong start, knowing that he’d have to fight his way up the order after his race was compromised by what happened in qualifying,” Binotto told Motorsport week.
“It was a good getaway, but being aggressive always carries a risk. He pulled off some nice passing moves, but on his last one, maybe he tried just a bit too hard. But that’s the right attitude. He proved that he is not the sort to ever give up or surrender.”
