Renault Sport F1 team
The French team was established back in 1977 during the Grand Prix of England. Renault mainly produced engines for other teams in the 1980s. In 2002, Benetton was rebranded as Renault F1 Team. Renault became world champions in 2005 and 2006 in both championships due to Fernando Alonso. Lotus took over the French team prior to the 2012 season but withdrew from Formula 1 after 2015. Since 2016, Renault are back in Formula 1 as a works team.
