Racing Point to bring almost new car to German Grand Prix

Racing Point is set to bring an "almost new car" to the German Grand Prix. The results for the Pink Panthers haven't been as good as they wanted so far in 2019.

The upgrades will include a change to the aerodynamic philosophy having worked on the car in the wind tunnel.

Financial restrictions are no longer in place after Lawerence Stroll brought the team out almost 12 months ago. One big target for Stroll was to make sure upgrades will be unlocked and brought to the car.

Having introduced some upgrades in Barcelona, Otmar Szafnauer was asked by Motorsport.com on when the next wave will arrive.

"This is a big one. And the aerodynamic philosophy changes as well, so it's a big thing. We have to try and get it in asap, hopefully before Hungary," Szafnauer said.

"A lot of things will change – it's a big mass flow rate of air change. Directionally it's the right thing, and it's something that will also continue to help improve the car forever."

Sergio Perez finished in P15 while Lance Stroll crashed out of the Spanish Grand Prix. The result was a significant drop from the race prior in Baku showing the performance is track specific for Racing Point.

Technical director Green said the upgrades coming will solve the issues which affect the team on tracks like Barcelona.

"We have some new parts coming, almost a new car coming, before the summer shutdown. Hopefully, we'll address some of the issues that we tend to have at this type of circuit," Green said.
