Lando Norris admitted he was "nervous" about potentially losing his place inside the top 10 after colliding with the wall in the latter stages of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday.

The rookie survived hitting the wall slightly to come home in eighth-place to record a double-points finish for McLaren - with his team-mate Carlos Sainz a place ahead of him in P7.

"I had a few walls hits," Norris said to Motorsport.com. "I had one three or four laps from the end, which I got pretty nervous about, because it was quite a big hit. But I managed to hang on, the car was all fine, thankfully.

"It's not an easy track to not ever make a big mistake that costs us in a big way. I have made some here and there, but nothing cost us position or points."

Norris managed to stay in-tact for a points finish and recorded his second top-10 finish of the season in his debut Formula 1 campaign for the Woking-based side after coming second in the Formula 2 drivers' standings last season.
