Franz Tost fights back against B-team complainers

Franz Tost is fighting back against those complaining about the use of B-teams in Formula 1. Last week in Melbourne, McLaren, Williams and in particular Renault voiced their negative opinions about B-teams.

Red Bull and Toro Rosso were the original masters of the B-team process, others like Ferrari and Haas have since cottoned on to the idea. In the Bahrain paddock, the boss of Toro Rosso hit back at the claims.

"If someone who runs a manufacturer team is complaining that small teams are faster that means he simply hasn't done his homework," Tost said in the team principal's press conference.

"At Toro Rosso, we are racing the gearbox of last year, the rear suspension from last year and parts of the front suspension, and the reason Toro Rosso is so competitive is because of the fantastic power unit from Honda.

"It seems others have not done such a good job, and therefore they should not complain and reach around – they should just do their job."
