Gasly has high targets ahead of debut season for Red Bull Racing

Pierre Gasly is just a month away from beginning his first season in the cockpit of a Red Bull. "A dream" of his since 2013. Ahead of pre-season testing, Gasly talks about his relationship with Max Verstappen.

"Max is probably the most talented rider in the field, it's a great opportunity to ride in the same team, I can not wish for anything better, this is my second year in Formula 1, I still have to learn a lot and continue. He is super competitive and will push me so that's fantastic," Gasly said in an interview with Red Bull.

"In karting, we got to know each other as riders, and later as a person and more as friends, we respect each other, which is most important: if you respect each other and what can happen on and off the track, everything goes better."

In 2018, Gasly impressed many with a few finishes inside the top 10. One eye-catching performance was his fourth-place finish in Bahrain. Following Daniel Ricciardo's exit, he was quick to get picked.

The Frenchman has one big goal on his mind: "It is my goal to become world champion in Formula 1".

But what about in this upcoming season? Last year, in his F1 debut, he managed to impress and of course brings Honda experience to Red Bull.

"[My goal] is to continue my development as a Formula 1 driver. It's going to be only my second season so I still have a lot of things to develop on myself. I'll be with Red Bull with lots of experience and knowledge, and also with Max who has been in the team for a long time already so I'll take all these positives to learn as fast as possible."
