Sergio Perez will have gained some confidence after a positive practice day at the blazing-hot Hungaroring. After a difficult string of races for the Mexican where has has scored just 11 points in the last five races, team boss Christian Horner reveals to Sky Sports that he had a relaxed conversation with 'Checo' at his home in the hopes that it could help him return to better form.

"We all want Checo to realise the potential that he did in the first four or five races and we know he's capable of that and that's why we took up the option early on him for next year to try. I think he's been in a bit of a head spin the last few races but hopefully, today was the sign that he's coming out of that and the team is working very hard with him to support him and make sure that he does re-find his form because we desperately need it," Horner said. The Red Bull team boss has continued to support the Mexican throughout his struggles.

'Open relationship' between Horner and Perez may help return to form

"We have a really open relationship and I sat down with him in the kitchen of my house and he said, look, I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. And I said, come on, what's going on? Is there something else? And he was like, no, I think I'm just overthinking things a bit too much and I think almost ignoring what's going on on the other side of the garage will do him a favour, which is the approach that he's taking now, just focusing on his own performance." The Red Bull team boss concluded.
