Brown: Renault has found 'a lot of kilowatts'

McLaren has been told by their engine supplier, Renault, that they have found "a lot of kilowatts" in the development of their 2019 engine.

Last year the French power outlet did not do enough to satisfy Red Bull who have now changed to a Honda set up for 2019. However, McLaren stuck with Renault and from recent reports, it sounds like it sounds like Renault has made a noticeable step up.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown revealed to Autosport that there was optimism for next season.

"They are telling us that they are very pleased with their winter progress," said Brown.

"They have found a lot of kilowatts, and think they will be in the ballpark."

Despite failing to mention any numbers, Brown stated, "I think they feel they are going to be very competitive next year."

Brown believes that there is a "cautious optimism" going into next year and hopes that his team will be competing for World Championships before too long.
