You might be excused for thinking that Lewis Hamilton would have more say in the development of Mercedes’ 2019 car, but Valtteri Bottas has revealed that this is not the case, and the two drivers have equal say in the evolution of the car.
Bottas finished way off the pace in fifth position in the drivers’ standings as Hamilton romped to his fifth title.
Mercedes have a history of allowing their drivers to fight until it is obvious that one has a better chance of winning the title to the other, which is why Bottas and Hamilton were allowed to fight until the latter stages of the season, when controversial team orders came into play, especially in Russia.
On the development of the car, Bottas said: "We are both equally involved in the development of the new car.
"We talked after the race weekends, gave our feedback in the factory and some meetings before next year."
"Until we got on the track, we do not know exactly how it will feel. We'll have to get used to it first."
