Is Max Verstappen worried? 'A lot of things going on in my head'

Max Verstappen would have preferred Adrian Newey to stay connected to Red Bull Racing. Of course, the British chief technical officer doesn't. After the first quarter of '25, Newey may already start at a possible new employer.

After months of internal turmoil - in which team boss Christian Horner plays a leading role - Newey is the first of Red Bull's key figures to put his money where his mouth is. Will it stay that way? Or, will people like Helmut Marko and Pierre Waché also leave soon? Jos Verstappen, the father of Max, hinted earlier this year that he feared Red Bull Racing would fall apart.

Jos Verstappen spoke to the Telegraaf last week, where he spoke at length about Newey's announced farewell. Viaplay asked whether or not Max agreed with Father Jos' worried words "There are always a lot of things going on in my head. I don't always have to share that with everyone. That's how I live," Verstappen said.

"If there are things I am not happy about, I will always talk about it with the team. But at the moment I do see that a lot of important people are connected to the team and stay connected so far. So that is the most important thing."

It is no secret that Mercedes wants to take advantage of the personnel chaos within Red Bull and still hopes Verstappen will switch to the German squad. Will Newey's departure affect Verstappen's future plans? " Not at the moment," says the three-time world champion.
