Things seem to be calmer at Red Bull Racing at the moment, after a controversy erupted within the Formula 1 team in February, resulting in much unrest. There was even talk of Max Verstappen switching to Mercedes, but Nico Rosberg does not think that is the best choice for the Dutchman.

Rosberg advises against Verstappen's move to Mercedes

Rosberg would consider it unwise for Verstappen to leave for Mercedes at this time. "He's dominating the sport. He's very comfortable in his team, and happy with his team. So, no, I wouldn't because he has time. He has time until the end of 2025. He's the king here. He can decide whatever he wants. If he wants to go to Mercedes, he can go to Mercedes at the end of 2025. So he has loads of time. So, no, I wouldn't, in his position, I wouldn't be thinking about it now," he told Sky Sports.

So in 2026, when the new engine regulations come into force, Rosberg does see an opportunity for the three-time world champion to switch. At the same time, he expects Red Bull to be fine even then. "I'm pretty sure that with Christian Horner there and Red Bull are going to make sure that they have the right people to get the job done. And they've been working towards that and allocated a massive budget to that," he explained.

"But, of course, the more likely is that Mercedes, again, do an incredible job with that new engine package by 2026. But anyway, we'll never know. We need to wait and see," said the 2016 World Champion.

With all the turmoil surrounding team boss Christian Horner and later adviser Helmut Marko, Verstappen reportedly started talking to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff again. The Dutchman was abundantly clear in his demand that Marko should absolutely stay on in his role, and this was heeded. After this, calm seemed to return to the team.
