Red Bull struggled this weekend in Australia. Despite Verstappen's pole position, the world championship leader was forced to retire from the race in its early stages due to a brake issue. The race wasn't much better for Sergio Perez, as the Mexican struggled for pace throughout, finishing fifth, behind both McLarens and Ferraris. After also being provided a three-place grid penalty yesterday for impeding Hulkenberg, Perez, who is now in his fourth season at Red Bull, told Viaplay of his weekend struggles post-race:

Sergio struggles throughout the weekend

"It was a difficult weekend overall. There was plenty of work to do. And we can really go from there because I think there's plenty of things that we can look at. It was not a weekend where we had the pace. It was very unfortunate to come home with this result."

"I think we were just a step behind them already from Friday (McLarens). We could see that we were struggling more than them. It's something that we have to work on really hard to understand. Last year in Vegas, which was a very front-limited race, we struggled. I think there is some work to do in that regard."

Although the Mexican didn't have to retire with a similar issue, he revealed that he also struggled with issues throughout the race.

"No, I experienced other sorts of problems (Non brake issues)."

"It was just balance-related. I think that just didn't help."
