Max Verstappen feels somewhat sorry for Logan Sargeant. The American had to give up his car to Alexander Albon and watch from the sidelines for the rest of the race weekend. Verstappen ponders what he would've done in a similar situation.

For Logan Sargeant, Australia has been a weekend to quickly forget. Not because he performed badly himself but because he had to give up his car to his teammate. Alexander Albon crashed in FP1, damaging his chassis. Williams believes Albon is more likely to take points than Sargeant and has, therefore, given the Thai driver the only available chassis.

What Verstappen would do in Sargeant's position

"Of course, it sucks for Logan. From the team and from the performance aspect, I understand that they do it, but it's not nice. Would I have given up my car in such a case? Well, no, in my position, I wouldn't. I would have been on the plane home by now. If that had happened, I would have crashed my own car first, too. Then nobody would have been able to drive," said Verstappen after qualifying in Australia.

Verstappen jokes about it but also makes it clear that he does not fear getting into the same scenario as the American. Whereas Williams is clearly considered the fastest driver at Red Bull Racing, that would always mean Verstappen getting the car and not Sergio Perez.
