Jos Verstappen reacts to Horner comments again: 'Better to stay quiet now'

The investigation into Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner may be complete, but all the drama surrounding the whole affair is not over yet. On Sunday, explosive statements surfaced from Jos Verstappen, who claimed Red Bull will explode if Horner stays on as team boss. Speaking to The Times, Jos once again responded to the matter.

Jos Verstappen reacts to Horner's comments again

After qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen and Christian Horner became embroiled in a heated argument. The Italian branch of Sky Sports published video footage of the argument, with Verstappen eventually walking away, only to return later and shake Horner's hand.

It was after this argument that Verstappen stated that the F1 team is in danger of falling apart if Horner stays on. He later confirmed this to the BBC. Speaking to The Times, he again responded to the matter, albeit a lot more cautiously. "It is better to stay quiet now. The most important [thing] is that Max has a good car and team around him and that all this doesn’t affect him too much," Verstappen Snr said. He did not respond when asked if he was speaking on behalf of his son but did state that Red Bull had no control over him or who he was speaking to.

Rumours about the FIA President's request to Max Verstappen

Meanwhile, De Telegraaf brought a new rumour on the matter. According to the newspaper, which originally broke the story out the investigation, a private meeting took place between FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Max Verstappen, during which the latter was allegedly asked to publicly express his support for Horner. Verstappen only partially did so: "He has been an incredible team boss so absolutely from a performance side of things you can’t even question that," the Dutchman said.
