Partly due to Drive to Survive, Formula 1 increased in popularity. Entire new groups of people became interested in the world's most important motor racing class, and certainly in the characters. Not only the F1 drivers are stars these days, even (former) team bosses like Guenther Steiner can no longer walk the streets anonymously.

Meanwhile, Netflix viewer interest seems to be declining, the streaming service has announced. In the first weekend after the release of the sixth season, Netflix recorded a 30 per cent drop in viewers compared to the same period a year ago. On the opening days, there were 2.9 million viewers to the series.

Fewer hours watched on Netflix too

The total number of hours watched during the opening weekend was 21.8 million. That is 18 per cent lower than last year when 25.76 million hours were watched on the opening weekend. Exactly why there were fewer viewers and fewer hours watched is unclear. No doubt Netflix will come up with an explanation at a later stage.

For the streaming service, the drop probably comes as a cold shower. After all, the programme is one of the service's flagship shows. Meanwhile, filming has started for the seventh season.
