Many believe that Red Bull Racing can win this year's championship even with the their car from 2023, the RB19, but Adrian Newey and his technical team were not completely convinced. That is why the RB20 looks quite different from its predecessor in some areas. Aston Martin chief Dan Fallows shares his views on his former employer's choice.

Aston Martin surprised by 'radical changes' Red Bull

After the winter test, there was agreement in the Formula 1 paddock: Red Bull and Max Verstappen are miles ahead of the rest, especially behind them it will be exciting. Yet Aston Martin is not giving up just yet. "We've got two years left of this regulation set so there is still time for people to catch up," Fallows told GPblog and others.

He continued: "I think we saw the field get a lot closer at the end of last season. It was starting to get very tight. I can't speak for what they are doing. I can't speak for what they are doing. But they obviously felt that they needed to make a radical change."

"From our point of view, I think we were quite happy with the trajectory of the car right towards the end of last season. And we wanted to carry that one into this season with making sure that we had a good platform to develop for the season, which is what we are hoping for," said the Aston Martin technical director.
