Fernando Alonso managed to win the race once, and Max Verstappen has never made a secret of wanting to race there. The 24 Hours of Le Mans has something magical for every racing driver - and therefore Formula 1 drivers too. Esteban Ocon is the next to speak about wanting to drive in the iconic endurance race.

Last week, Alpine presented both the new Formula 1 car and also the car with which it will race the season in the World Endurance Championship. In the WEC, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the absolute highlight. Looking at the WEC hypercar, Ocon was asked if he would also like to drive at Le Mans one day?

Ocon's focus now is still on Formula 1

The Frenchman thought that was "mega" and immediately philosophised what needs to happen for that to happen: "The focus is always 2000 percent on Formula 1, but I think as soon as one F1 driver will do Le Mans while the F1 season is going, many more drivers will do so, and I’m waiting for that moment to see what happens," Ocon said.

Nico Hulkenberg was the last active F1 driver to make a brief foray into Le Mans. The German also won the race. The upcoming edition does see former F1 drivers in action. Mick Schumacher will race for Alpine. "It’s fantastic for the Alpine endurance team to have Mick. I think he’s bringing a lot of experience, expertise, and he’s obviously a very talented driver in general and I really hope that they are going to be winning Le Mans this year," Ocon said.
