Max Verstappen was the best driver of 2023 and Red Bull Racing were the best team, at least that is the opinion of Jolyon Palmer. On Formula 1's official website, he addressed the best and most remarkable performances in the past F1 season. Yuki Tsunoda - driver of AlphaTauri - could also count on a positive word.

At the start of the season, the Japanese driver saw the seasoned Nyck de Vries appear at his side, but the Dutchman was never a serious match for Tsunoda. Although Daniel Ricciardo, who eventually succeeded De Vries, picked up the best result for the Italian team in Mexico (seventh), it was still Tsunoda who was generally the superior of the Australian.

Jolyon Palmer, himself once racing in Formula 1, argues that Tsunoda was the driver who developed best last season. "Yuki stepped up wonderfully though and, for the first time this year looked like a team leader, displaying both pace and impressive consistency," the Brit praised the Japanese driver, who will also be in an AlphaTauri [under a new name] next season.

Tsunoda an option for Red Bull Racing?

After next season, Sergio Perez's contract at Red Bull Racing expires. It is no secret that the Austrians are considering putting Ricciardo back alongside Max Verstappen in 2025. Palmer believes Tsunoda could also be considered for that spot. "There’s much gossip about Daniel’s links with Red Bull for 2025, might Tsunoda have something to add to the conversation with another stellar season?" Palmer wonders aloud.
