Pirelli announces tyre choices for first three races in 2024

The Formula 1 season has only just finished, but the first announcements for 2024 are already being made. Pirelli announced on Friday afternoon the tyre compounds for the first three races next season.

Tyre choices

There will be five different compounds next year: the hardest tyre is the C1, and it runs through to the C5, the softest compound. There was also a C0 in 2023, but it will not return in 2024. In Bahrain, the hardest compounds will be used. The C3 compound will act as the soft tyre. The C2 is the medium tyre, and the C1 is the hard tyre for the first race weekend of the year.

Other choices in Saudi Arabia GP

In Saudi Arabia, things will look different. Here, the C3 compound will no longer function as the soft tyre but as the medium tyre. At the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the C2 will therefore be the hard tyre, and the C4 compound will be in action for the first time in a race weekend.

Softest compounds in Australia

Finally, the compounds for the Australian Grand Prix have also been announced. Here, drivers will have to complete their laps on the softest compounds. Here, the C5 compound is the soft tyre, the C4 compound is the medium tyre, and the C3 compound will act as the hard tyre. So in the first three weekends, all tyres will already be in action.
