Lance Stroll's Formula 1 contract at Aston Martin has always had a degree of uncertainty surrounding it due to the fact his father, Lawerence Stroll, owns the team. Mike Krack said earlier in the year that Stroll will race for Aston Martin in 2024. This is in the shadow of Aston Martin's new Le Mans project, rumours Lawerence Stroll wants to sell the team, and Fernando Alonso comfortably out-scoring Stroll.

Lance Stroll to race in 2024

Team boss Mike Krack said earlier in the year that Aston Martin aren't planning to change their driver line-up for the 2024 season. He said: "We don't have any such debate, we will be fine next year with the two drivers."

"There is not a marked gap in performance. There is a marked gap in points. As a team, we analyse the season from both perspectives, and as a team, we need to do a much better job on that side of the garage. We have also had reliability issues and it was always on that car so it is something we need to do much better."

Stroll made his debut for the team in 2019 when it was known as Racing Point. This followed his two seasons at Williams. During his career, Stroll has been on the podium three times, including when then-teammate Sergio Perez won in Bahrain. Stroll also recorded one pole position in the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix weekend.

The soon-to-be 25-year-old is still young and developing as a Formula 1 driver. It seems as though as long as his father owns the team, Stroll will be driving for them. However, should the rumoured sale be true, Aston Martin have a range of alternative drivers to select should they wish to replace Stroll in 2025. The Canadian has been significantly behind his teammate, Fernando Alonso, in qualifying, Grands Prix and the World Championship.
