Helmut Marko thinks Felipe Massa has a good chance in the legal battle for the 2008 world title, provided new facts come to light. The Red Bull Racing adviser has given his opinion on the developments in Massa's case, sniping to the Austrian Kronen Zeitung that one less title for Lewis Hamilton is not a bad thing.

Legal battle for 2008 world title

Felipe Massa is going all out to win the 2008 world title after all. After former Formula Oneboss Bernie Ecclestone made some statements about the infamous race in Singapore that year, Massa saw opportunities to challenge the result. According to the Brazilian, the Singapore race should never have counted because of Renault's crashgate scandal. Red Bull advisor Marko has now also given his opinion on the course of events.

The Austrian indicates that he actually found Renault's actions in that race suspicious right from the start:"Even the choice of lap for the stop was suspicious. Afterwards, it was an open secret. I just wondered why it took so long for this matter to come to light." Marko therefore also sees opportunities for Massa, but in addition immediately makes a note of the possible consequences of the outcome of the case. "If there are new facts, then the case can be solved. And then the chances for Massa are not so bad. The only question is, where would we end up if we have to re-evaluate many other races where incidents have also occurred?" said Marko.

Marko: 'Would love to see Massa win the title'

The Red Bull advisor also cannot resist making a statement about Hamilton. Hamilton took his first world title in 2008 and, along with Michael Schumacher, is currently the record holder with seven world titles. Marko says of this with a wink: "It was terrible to see Massa celebrating for 20 seconds that he had won the title in Brazil, and then suddenly it was all gone. I would love to see him win the title - and Hamilton, for whom records are not so important, would then have one less."
