Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Valtteri Bottas are the three F1 drivers joining a €50 million investment fund alongside numerous other well-known athletes. The investment comes from athletes and is to promote start-ups in sports, media and entertainment.

Sainz, Norris and Bottas invest together

Set up by Portugal's Apex Capital, the fund is called 'Elite Performance Fund'. Besides Sainz, Norris and Bottas, footballers Luuk de Jong, Raphaël Varane, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen and Formula E drivers Anontio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans have also joined the fund.

Motorsportweek.com quotes Apex Capital CEO António Caçorino: “Athletes aren’t just our capital sources; they’re our partners. They infuse our decisions with genuine insights from their respective sports.” Bottas, Sainz and Norris thus plan to put their earned millions to good use.

The drivers' investments are not a novelty, as several F1 drivers are engaged in investments outside Formula 1. Whether it is his own racing team or a clothing line, Lewis Hamilton is an example of an entrepreneur in F1. Hamilton is investing in an F1 movie. He is also investing in the Broncos NFL team and in multiple food outlets. Daniel Ricciardo has his own wine brand, and Norris has a popular sim racing company, Quadrant.
