The Formula 2 feature race in Italy was a chaotic one. The race had as many as five safety cars, while the race was only 30 laps long. In the end, the race also ended behind the safety car and it was Oliver Bearman who crossed the line first ahead of Ayumu Iwasa and championship leader Theo Pourchaire.

F2 race features five safety cars

The first safety car came out right after the start. Title contender Frederik Vesti was pushed onto the grass by Roman Stanek and spun. The Dane was unable to continue his race and as a result Vesti lost a lot of points in the championship battle with Pourchaire.

The second safety car came out after a crash by Arthur Leclerc, Charles Leclerc's younger brother. The Monegasque braked too late for the first corner and chose to drive into the wall instead of hitting his fellow drivers. Immediately after the restart, there was a big crash Zane Maloney went hard into the wall on the straight. Maloney received a tap from behind from Roy Nissany. The Formula 2 driver was okay after the hard hit.

Eventually, two more safety cars came out. The first was caused by Kush Maini and Jak Crawford. The latter tried to pass Maini on the outside, but the latter slammed the door on the late side. As a result, Crawford drove into the back of Maini, causing a lot of damage. Crawford would also cause the fifth and final safety car of the day on lap 29 of the 30. The American had to pull his car over after the Ascari chicane. There was not enough time left to restart the race.
