Despite a particularly dominant season for Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen, Formula 1 has never been more popular in the United States. ESPN has unveiled the viewing figures for the 2023 season, revealing a decent increase over previous years.

F1 in the United States more popular than ever

With three races this year, the United States has a strong presence on the Formula 1 calendar. Miami already hosted a race in May. In October, the Grand Prix will be held in Austin, and in November, Formula 1 will travel to Las Vegas for the first time. ESPN recently revealed viewing figures in the United States, and Liberty Media attributes this increase to the addition of extra sprint races. Sprint will also be run during the Grand Prix weekend at Austin.

Viewing figures for race weekends are also currently at an all-time high. Compared to the figures from previous years, the 2023 races score well above, on average, the races of the 2022 season, for example. The US television station reveals that the average number of viewers of a race in 2023 is 1.28 million. In 2022, this was 1.21 million viewers.

High F1 viewing figures

The current season already saw three of the four events with the highest number of F1 viewers in the United States. ESPN indicates that this year's Grands Prix of Miami, Monaco and Canada are in the top-four races with the highest viewing figures. Only the first race at the Miami Circuit [2022] scored higher than the three races from this season.
