Ricciardo makes comparison: 'Gearboxes like mantelpieces'
- Sam Godber
The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps marked Daniel Ricciardo' s second race of the season in the AlphaTauri. It was not all plain sailing for the Nyck de Vries replacement, as he had to settle for 16th place in the race. He explains to GPblog and others how the car felt to him.
The AlphaTauri car looked to be pretty competitive as AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda was seventh in the first part of the race, but he finished 10th. The Japanese brought in another one point on behalf of the Italian racing stable. For Ricciardo, it was a bit trickier.
Ricciardo makes a comparison
"I felt like yeah, I feel like we didn't again this is just a short-term analysis, but didn't probably get the most out of the car today," the good-humoured man began after the race. "I was watching a lot of gearboxes today. Which I don't know people have gearboxes is like mantelpieces in the house. It's not really my thing. I don't need to see anymore," Ricciardo remarked.
In any case, the former Red Bull reserve driver is happy to be back in the king class of motorsport. " Yeah, now that I'm back in the sport, I've got a taste for it," Ricciardo told.
