The man behind much of the RB19's success is Adrian Newey. He is the Austrian team's 'Chief Technical Officer'. Max Verstappen won the race at the Hungaroring last weekend, meaning Red Bull broke a very old record.

Namely, it is about the record of most wins in a row by a constructor. The record had stood since 1988 in the name of McLaren, which with eleven wins in a row seemed to hold a record that would not be broken any time soon, but last weekend that changed. At Silverstone, Red Bull already equalled the record, but last weekend the Austrian racing stable achieved its twelfth victory in a row.

Newey honoured by breaking F1 record

Adrian Newey was a guest on the F1 Nation podcast, where he talked about his team's achievement: "I could never have dreamt of this. To beat that McLaren record from 1988 is something I guess I certainly never thought we would do, so it's a tribute to the whole team, to the hard work of all the guys, the reliability we've enjoyed so far this season. It's just a fantastic tribute."

With the lead Red Bull now has, you might think as a team that things would be fine. Still, Newey believes Red Bull should not fall asleep: "I remember very clearly in 1999, when after Mika [Häkkinen] was leading going into Silverstone, Michael [Schumacher] had his accident, broke his leg obviously. As a team, to be perfectly honest, we fell asleep for the rest of the year and then it ended up going down to the wire between Mika [Häkkinen] and Eddie Irvine and we lost the constructors. So it's a sad lesson that no matter how good things look, you have to keep pushing, you have to keep on your toes."
