Max Günther took pole position in Jakarta for the E Prix of Indonesia. The German had been the driver with the most races to his name without a pole position, but that has now changed, as the Maserati MSG Racing driver will start from the pole for the first time this weekend.

Günter takes first pole position, Frijns P7

With this performance, Günther also immediately grabs three championship points. Pole position was fought out in the qualifying final by the German and Jake Dennis of Avalanche Andretti Formula E. Dennis went fastest in Group A along with two other familiar names, Stoffel Vandoorne, Jean-Eric Vergne, and Robin Frijns too. In Group B, Günther was immediately fastest, closely followed by Pascal Wehrlein.

Dennis beat ABT Cupra's Frijns in the quarter-finals with a lap almost half a second faster. Günther took on Maserati teammate Edoardo Motara at that stage, which the German won to then face compatriot Wehrlein in the semi-final. In the other semi-final, Dennis fought it out with Vergne. So Günther and Dennis met in the final, which was won by Günther with 1:08:141, qualifying over three-tenths faster.

With Günther, Dennis, Wehrlein and Vergne in that order on the first two starting rows, the head of the field is well distributed among four teams. On P7 is the highest-placed Cupra driver, Frijns, with McLaren's René Rast behind him. The race in Jakarta starts at 10:00 am (CEST) time. The race lasts 45 minutes plus one lap.
