Lewis Hamilton has again been linked with a seat at Formula One team Scuderia Ferrari. Haas boss Guenther Steiner thinks a switch is out of the question for the Mercedes driver. Indeed, there are no options.

The rumours about a switch of Hamilton from Mercedes to Ferrari seem to become a bit more substantial, now that a story has also come out naming a possible offer made by Ferrari. Ferrari president John Elkann is also said to be in personal contact with the seven-time World Champion.

'Hamilton should stay with his team'

The 38-year-old Brit's contract with Mercedes expires this year and no future plans have yet been confirmed. However, Mercedes and Hamilton do say they intend to extend the contract. According to Steiner, that is also the only logical choice. PA News Agency quoted the Haas team boss: "Lewis will stay with Mercedes until the end of his career. "

"What other opportunities are out there for him?" continued Steiner. "Think about that one. What other options are around? I don’t think he has many. He is at a stage where he is so close [to the end] that doing anything different and getting used to something else would not be very positive for him. He is not happy this year because he hasn’t won a race. But he has had a lot of good years with Mercedes so he needs to stick with the people who made him.”
