Max Verstappen pulled off victory after a chaotic race at Albert Park, but it was his teammate Sergio Perez who was named Driver of the Day by Formula 1 viewers worldwide after his overtaking race. Do the readers of GPblog agree?

Who is the Australian GP 'Driver of the Day'?

Perez impressed with his catch-up race, which started from the pit lane. From last place, the Mexican eventually managed to get back to P5 while staying out of the frenzy of all the restarts. He crossed the finish line in sixth place, but moved up another place in the final standings due to Carlos Sainz's penalty.

Meanwhile, Verstappen struggled especially at the start. He lost two places to George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, but managed to regain the lead. His victory seemed to be in danger for a while on the late restart, but the Dutchman got away considerably better. He defended against Hamilton's attack, but shortly afterwards the race was stopped again. After this, Verstappen only had to complete another lap behind the safety car to convert his leading position into a win.
