Lewis Hamilton: F1's Cristiano Ronaldo?

Lewis Hamilton is probably the most famous name in Formula One right now, as is Cristiano Ronaldo in football. This has led to comparisons between the two, and the Brit says it is “an honour” to be named in the same bracket as such incredible sportsmen such as Ronaldo.

Hamilton is chasing a fifth world title and he is the favourite to achieve that milestone this year, holding a 24 point advantage over Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who is also chasing the same milestone.

A fifth world title would send the Brit equal second in the list of all time title wins, behind only Michael Schumacher, who has seven and equal with Juan Manuel Fangio, who won his quintet of titles in the 1950s.

When asked about how he feels being the Ronaldo of the F1 world, he replied: “I did not know that yet, but I think that’s pretty cool.”

Hamilton sees Ronaldo as “a true legend in football,” so to be compared to the now Juventus player is “a real compliment.”

What sporting idol would you compare Hamilton to? Or should comparisons stick to individual sports? Comment below!
