Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan thinks Lewis Hamilton will start the 2023 season more positively than the 2022 season. The Sky Sports commentator believes Hamilton wants to go for his eighth title this season.

Jordan compares in conversation with OLBG the seven-time world champion to Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is still driving in F1 at the age of 41 and does not seem to have had enough yet. According to Jordan, with Hamilton, it could also be quite some time before he decides to quit Formula 1. Although the Brit could be mentally and financially ready to quit, the eighth title is still on his mind, according to Jordan.

Hamilton not troubled by Abu Dhabi this year

The commentator says: "I do believe he thinks he has the best chance this coming season to make his championship eight. The reason I say that and the reason why I think he can beat George Russell is because this time last year, Lewis was devastated. What happened in Abu Dhabi in 2021 [Max Verstappen beating Hamilton in the last couple of laps], last race of the season, had it happened in the mid-season, it would be something you could probably get your mind through"

Jordan also saw that Hamilton was visibly affected after the 2021 season. According to the commentator, the way he was beaten echoed in Hamilton's mind at the start of the previous F1 season. Jordan: "I would discount the first 20 or 30 percent of last season in terms of not seeing Lewis at his best and he'll be back to his best now."
