Christian Horner is open to a fourth grand prix in the United States. Speaking to the Daily Mail the Red Bull team boss says he thinks it is very nice that there is so much additional interest in Formula 1 in the United States.

With its partnership with Ford, Red Bull Racing is making great strides in the US market. As part of the new partnership with the American brand, the presentation of the new Red Bull car therefore took place in New York. As far as Horner is concerned, Formula 1 may come to 'The Big Apple' more often.

"It would be amazing," Horner said when asked if he would like to see a race in New York. "Racing in big cities in the US is really exciting. A race here in the Big Apple, for example, what a spectacle that would be."

'We have great tracks here'

"You can never say never to a fourth race in America," Horner continued. "WWe've got other North American races as well, with Montreal, and there's certainly demand for it, so why not? It's great that there's that much interest in Formula One in the US. We're fortunate to race in great venues, whether it's the street circuit of Miami, or the track in Austin. Vegas this year is going to be an absolutely insane event too."

Should it indeed happen that there will be a fourth grand prix in the United States, it would be unprecedented. While it has happened before that a country has looked after three races on its calendar - remarkably including the United States, in 1982 - it has never happened that four races are held in one country. As for New York, there have been several attempts to host a grand prix there. The last attempt to do so dates back to 2013, but although the race was on the provisional calendar that year, it was eventually cancelled before the start of the season.
