Stoffel Vandoorne had a rough start to the Formula E season in Mexico last weekend. The reigning world champion, with his new team DS Penske, finished no further than tenth in the race, leaving plenty of work to be done in the coming period. Nevertheless, Vandoorne is expecting a lot from the season.

After finishing second in 2020, the driver managed to win the championship with Mercedes last season. It was immediately his last year of racing with Mercedes, but he found his new home at DS Penske.

Vandoorne's ambitions have not diminished at his new team. "This is a new year, a new start at a new team. We have high ambitions. Hopefully we can continue the line of last year," he explained to VTM Nieuws.

Vandoorne is not thinking about F1

This calendar year, he is also Aston Martin's test and reserve driver in Formula 1. In the future, he still hopes to return to the motorsport class, but for now he wants to focus on his current challenges. "I'm not thinking about Formula 1 at all. It would be wrong of me to keep thinking about it."
