Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko has said that he expects the team to be on the same level as Ferrari next year when they partner up with Honda.

That's what the Austrian told a news source from his home country, News.at.

Red Bull have been up and down this season, with the car giving up on the drivers on multiple occasions, but the RB14 also looking dominant at times. They have three wins, which is as many as Mercedes and Ferrari have, but find themselves behind championship leader Ferrari by 58 points.

According to Marko, that should change in 2019, as he thinks that Honda will be a power upgrade compared to Renault.

"Our chassis is the best of the field," Marko explained, "we only lack pure power.

"The dominance from Mercedes has clearly disappeared and on this moment, Ferrari have the best engine.

"Because we have no qualifying mode we have to make up during the races.

"Compared to the competition, we're often as fast or even faster."

Now, the Austrian team will switch from Renault to Honda for the 2019 and 2020 season. And that can push them past Ferrari, Marko believes.

"We don't have to change anything about our chassis because it is amazing," he continued.

"I expect that we'll be able to close the gap with Ferrari with Honda.

"Honda's factory in Sakura is an unbelievable technical facility with the newest simulators and testing equipment.

"We don't have to worry financially.

"They want to prove to everyone that they can build a winning engine."

Is Marko right? Can Red Bull build the best car of the grid next season? Or is he over-excited about the Honda-deal? Let us know in the comments!
