Charles Leclerc had no major problems on his Ferrari F1-75 and his team made no blunders, yet he finished only sixth in Mexico. The Ferrari driver seems to have no explanation for the disappointing result. It did remind him of the Belgium GP.

Flashbacks to Spa for Leclerc

Ferrari has been beaten by Mercedes. Whereas the team was still the title favourite at the start of the season, the struggling Mercedes now seems to be faster and stronger than the Italians. Leclerc had no chance and drove a colourless race, in which he was also beaten by teammate Carlos Sainz. His gap to Max Verstappen, who was his formidable rival earlier this year, was more than a minute. Leclerc had flashbacks to the race at Spa-Francorchamps when he was also so beaten by the Dutchman.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the race, the Ferrari driver said, "It was another race where we didn't have the pace and were outside a minute of Max. I was reminded of Spa." Leclerc does not seem to have a reason for the disappointing performance: "We have to analyse everything. It is clear that we suffered considerably against Mercedes and Red Bull if you look at the gaps. We need to understand why we are so far behind. It was not an easy weekend from me, but this does not explain the whole gap."
