Charles Leclerc had a busy second free practice session. The Monegasque gave his Ferrari to Robert Shwartzman in VT1, forcing Leclerc to use the full one-and-a-half hours in second practice. Teammate Carlos Sainz says Ferrari was up to speed straight away, despite the bumps in the track.

"It was very busy. I think it was the busiest FP2 I’ve ever done," Leclerc opened for the camera of F1.com. However, the Monegasque did enjoy the session and is happy that the team made up a lot of lost time from FP1 through the busy FP2.

Lots of bumps at Circuit of the Americas

Sainz was one of the fastest drivers on Friday, but admits it was not obvious. "Yeah, we were definitely on the pace today. It hasn’t been an easy day with the bumps. The trakc is always challenging here in Austin to have a good balance and have a good ride over the kerbs and bumps." Leclerc shares this thought with his teammate.

"But in general it wasn’t the most  comfortable car to drive out there. We were quick, that’s what counts," Sainz concluded. Ferrari hopes to finally win another race in Texas. The Italians have not yet managed to do so after the summer break.
