Pierre Gasly will make the switch to Alpine next season. The Frenchman will drive there alongside compatriot Esteban Ocon. The two families have clashed on several occasions in the past, leading the racing stable to take precautionary measures, according to Joe Saward.

The Formula One journalist says in his blog that he thinks Alpine has taken a big risk by putting Gasly next to Ocon. Whereas Fernando Alonso is the team's absolute leader this season, the proportions are expected to be more balanced in 2023.

However, Saward does not rule out continuing to do well, he writes in his blog. "Alpine has taken the plunge with two French drivers who have not always got on in the past. Time will tell if this is wise," he begins.

However, Alpine does seem to realise that the families are not exactly getting along. Consequently, the French racing stable has reportedly informed the drivers that additional rules will be added to control the situation.

"I am told that in an effort to keep friction to a minimum both drivers have been informed that they can have family at only two events a year, and that the two families cannot attend the same races."
