It was confirmed earlier this morning that Red Bull have made an agreement with Honda over being their engine supplier for 2019.

Red Bull had the choice of Renault or Honda but have after much time to consider their options, the Austrians have opted with the Japanese outfit.

Takahiro Hachigo, Honda’s CEO, has been talking about his delight that this deal has been reached:

“After establishing a good relationship with Toro Rosso, we have decided to extend our participation in F1 another team, Red Bull Racing, starting in the 2019 season.

“Having two teams means we can access twice as much data as before.

“We believe working with Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing will allow us to get close to our goal of winning races and championships, building two strong alliances.

“The talks developed very fast, thanks to the open and respectful attitude of Red Bull towards Honda, which led to an agreement that is fair and equitable to all parties.”

Honda boss Masashi Yamamoto says that his team will soon start working with Red Bull to adapt the engine to the Red Bull chassis.

“All the teams have already started the development for 2019, so we will also have to start working on the adaption of the chassis and the power unit with the equipment,” Yamamoto told as.com.

“Although we have more time compared to last year’s Toro Rosso situation, although it is a relatively shorter period of time than the rest, we have to make sure we have good communication to have a good development together.

“We will provide the same engine specification to Red Bull as Toro Rosso.”
