The FIA says it has examined all financial reports of all F1 teams for 2021 and is almost finished with them. Red Bull may receive penalties for exceeding the budget cap last year.

FIA almost done with Red Bull investigation

There has been much criticism from F1 teams about Red Bull possibly exceeding its 2021 budget cap. If true, this would have far-reaching consequences, which is why Mercedes and Ferrari, among others, called for strict monitoring by the FIA. The FIA has said it has carried out the investigation and is almost finished with it. On the website it says:

"The FIA is currently finalising the assessment of the 2021 financial data submitted by all Formula 1 teams. Alleged breaches of the Financial Regulations, if any, will be dealt with according to the formal process set out in the regulations."

It seems that the FIA felt compelled to bring out this notice earlier than hoped. Indeed, the FIA also wrote with the message that unsubstantiated speculation is currently circulating and the organisation would like to avoid that. The website says: "The FIA notes significant and unsubstantiated speculation and conjecture in relation to this matter, and reiterates that the assessment is ongoing and due process will be followed without consideration to any external discussion."
