Zhou counting on contract extension: 'Hopefully more information soon'

Guanyu Zhou is still waiting for confirmation from his team, but it is believed that the Chinese driver may stay with Alfa Romeo next year as well. Zhou himself is confident that a contract extension is in the cards.

Zhou can look back on his debut year in Formula 1 with satisfaction, in which he managed to take three points so far. However, he also experienced the dangerous side of the sport when he crashed hard at Silverstone and ended up behind the crash barrier. He therefore calls his first season not an easy one, but feels perfectly at home at Alfa Romeo.

Zhou counting on contract extension

It is not yet certain who will drive alongside Valtteri Bottas in 2023, but it is expected that the team will stick with Zhou. The Chinese rookie himself is at least counting on being allowed to stay for a while longer, but he stresses that there is no rush in negotiations.

Nevertheless, Zhou hopes to get more clarity on his future in the king class of motorsport soon. "We are talking about a contract extension, but nothing is official yet. Hopefully I will get more information soon and we will finalise it," he said in conversation with Formule1.nl.
