Williams, according to AutoHebdo, does not assuming it can still snare Nyck de Vries for 2023. The Dutchman is on his way to AlphaTauri, according to the medium, which means the British formation is moving on and has now set all its sights on Logan Sargeant.

After last weekend's excellent performance by De Vries, who managed to cross the finish line in ninth place in the Italian Grand Prix, Williams tried to do everything possible to bring him to Formula 1. Initially, De Vries seemed open to that, until several competitors came along.

Alpine, for instance, is doing its best to get De Vries a test drive in Hungary. However, AlphaTauri also sees him as a top candidate to bring him in as Pierre Gasly's successor after the deal with Colton Herta fell through. In turn, the Frenchman is eager to move to Alpine.

Sargeant should become successor Latifi at Williams

There is reportedly a significant chance that Gasly could make that switch and De Vries could be found in AlphaTauri's car next season. Meanwhile, however, Williams wants to appoint a replacement for Nicholas Latifi and is switching gears at lightning speed.

The racing stable's management is said to have Sargeant in its sights. The American driver has made a good impression in Formula 3 and Formula 2 in recent years. Williams is said to be hopeful that the deal will come around, although it will also keep a keen eye on talks between AlphaTauri and De Vries.
