Alan Permane, Sports Director at Alpine, believes that Aston Martin's innovative rear wing is currently being tested in the simulator by the other nine Formula One teams. If the new design is actually legal and makes the car faster, he expects the rear wing to appear on the other cars.

Aston Martin introduced a new rear wing at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the last race before the summer break, which caused a lot of controversy. The wing seemed not to be in line with the intentions of the new regulations, causing several teams to question the legality of the rear wing.

Team principal Mike Krack emphasised in an earlier interview that his team had been in contact with the FIA during the development of the rear wing to confirm that it was legal. According to the team itself, there is, therefore, no problem with the new upgrade.

Permane is asked by Formula1.com Permane for his opinion on the Aston Martin design. "I promise you there's nine other teams running that in CFD at the moment and if it's quicker, you'll see nine more of them, I imagine. I can't see why that wouldn't happen if it's completely legal."

"If they've circumvented the intent and I doubt there's anything that can be done about that this year, possibly for next year," Permane says. After the summer break, which comes to an end this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix, it will become clear whether other teams have copied Aston Martin's design.
